From the North

Take 191 south to Route 12. Follow Rt. 12 past Lukachukai and Tsaile. Approximately 9 miles past Tsaile you will approach the Wheatfields Chapter House, this is an orange building. Just before the Chapter house is a dirt road to your right. At this corner you will see a sign to Little Big Medicine Sundance. Turn here and go approximately one mile, over a cattle guard. From the South

Take I-40 to Lupton, which is where Navajo Route 12 connects with 40. Take Route 12 North all the way to Wheatfield's. There will be a little jog at St. Michaels to Ft. Defiance, but you will be following the signs to Navajo, N.M., and will then continue on 12 North. From Lupton, it is approximately an hour and a half drive north. You will see Wheatfield's Lake on the right, and about 2-3 miles past that will be a hill on the right, with the words "Wheatfield's Chapter" in white letters. Just after the hill, you will see that you are approaching the Orange Wheatfield's Chapter house. Just past the Chapter House driveway there is a dirt road to your left (During Sundance at this corner you will see a sign to Little Big Medicine Sundance) Turn here (left). From Flagstaff, Arizona

(coming from the West on Interstate 40, or from the South on I 17): Take I 40 (or I 17) to Flagstaff and go to Jct I-40/I 17 Head East on I 40 for about 12 miles and take the Cosnino Rd exit. Turn left, go over the freeway and you will also go over the rail road tracks and on through a residential area, so watch your speed limit (it is posted at 25 mph). Go to the end of Cosnino Rd (its a short distance,only about 2 miles) and T to Winona Rd, turn right, and go approximately 2 miles to Leupp Rd. Turn left on Leupp Rd. Hwy 15. After about 30 miles you go through Leupp and keep going towards Dilcon/Indian Wells. About 30 miles past Leupp you cross Hwy 87 at a stop sign, keep going straight on Hwy 15. Pass Dilcon and head towards Indian Wells for about 22 miles. You will see the new Indian Wells Elementary School to your left and Hwy 15 will end and "T" into Hwy 6 (no signs here!) Turn left, going approximately 3 miles (you will pass the Bida Hochee building to your right). At the 3 mile point you will turn right on Hwy 15 towards Ganado (there is a little sign). Go for 34 miles to a stop sign. Cross Hwy 264 (There is a new Chevron station) and go straight on Hwy 191 north towards Chinle. After about 30 miles you enter Chinle turn right at the stop light with signs to Canyon De Chelley (if you go straight past the light there is a large Bashas center on the left that is good to get supplies before resuming your route). Going towards Canyon De Chelley you see the Best Western Hotel to your right & Conoco Gas, then the Holiday Inn to your left, then pass the Canyon De Chelley visitors center to your right. Soon after the center there is a sign to "Tsaile via North Rim", it is a split in the road you must go left which will take you to Tsaile (Turning right will take you to Thunderbird lodge or Thunderbird free campgound; or if you follow the signs to South Rim it will take you to Spider Rock campground --this route does NOT go through to Tsaile! You must take the North Rim.) Take the north rim road for about 27 miles until the road ends, you come to a "T" to Tsaile. Turn right at the stop sign (there is a convenience small store at this corner), and follow the road for approximately 9 miles heading to Wheatfields. You will see a large orange building on the right, this is the Wheatfields Chapter house. Turn right,it is a dirt road. Below are directions from the Wheatfield's Chapter House.

From the Wheatfields Chapter House

Follow this road for approximately one mile (at one point the road splits to the right you must keep to the left! on the main road). At the one mile point you will go through a cattle guard and here you will see houses/hogans/clinic building. This is the OLD Sundance grounds and the homestead of Danny & Lavine John & Family. Continue further for appproximately 1/8 mile to the very next small road to the right. The road splits, keep to the right which narrows as it passes a pond. Go one mile and you are there.

PLEASE NOTE: The road gets slippery and mucky during rain or snow due to the red clay soil in this region. Four Wheel drive may be required. Also, please drive SLOW as this is a narrow (one lane) road, watch for oncoming vehicles. Always proceed with caution!
