Ceremonies

Sweatlodge

The Sweatlodge Ceremony helps us to purify ourselves spiritually, mentally, and physically. It is felt by the Elders that by sweat and prayer in the Inipi (Sweat Lodge), we can clean our bodies of toxins, our minds of negativities, heighten our spirits, to come into a right relationship with ourselves and everything that surrounds us. Because it is an ancient, sacred ceremony, come in a humble way, and listen carefully to the one who is pouring the water in the lodge, or the lodge leader.

Sacred Chanupa

Chanupa Ceremony is conducted 4 times a year at Little Big Medicine in the center of the Sacred Circle around the Sundance Tree. Prayers and good words are offered and the Chanunpa is shared around the circle by all. There is Inipi (Sweatlodge) to purify before the Chanupa Ceremony.

Sundance

Sundance is a sacrad ceremony that is shared by many Tribes and Nations. Sundance brings strength and dignity to all people, showing them a way to Walk in Beauty. The Ceremony honors the Sun that gives life to all things. It is a way of honoring the sacred life we all share. Chief Danny John and First Lady Lavina John have conducted the Little Big Medicine Sundance on the sacred land of their homestead in Wheatfields, Arizona.
